LAW ENFORCEMENT TORCH RUN FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS

Greenwood, AR (May 20, 2008) The Greenwood Police Department along with Special Olympics of Arkansas and the Partner’s Club of Greenwood High School will be hosting its fourth Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.

The Torch Run is fast becoming an annual event for the City of Greenwood, and each year we hope to do more. The run will begin at 700am and will leave from the Town Square in Greenwood. The route will follow Center Street all the way to Hwy 71S. We are continuing a tradition began last year in the form of an informal breakfast at City Hall. The breakfast will begin at 600am and last until we head out to start our run. We invite everyone to come out and enjoy a bite to eat while they meet the Athletes and the Runners.

The Greenwood Police Department would like to extend a special thank you to Jeri Chronister and the Partner’s Club of Greenwood High School. They are always available and assist in any way they can.

Once our run is complete we will travel to the Ft Smith Police Department and continue with the Ft Smith runners to Clarksville where the Torch will be passed for the next leg of its journey to Searcy for the Arkansas State Games.

If you need further information or have questions please contact Lt. James Flynn at the listed numbers above.
