On February 6, 2009, officers were called to the Wal-Mart Super Center after the owner discovered his 2000 GMC Sonoma missing from the parking lot. Investigators were able to locate surveillance footage of both the suspect and the theft of the vehicle. The investigation led to Pocola, OK where investigators were able to identify Trevor Elmore as the suspect.

 

Elmore abandoned the vehicle near Hwy 71S and Hwy 10 Spur where it was recovered and returned to the owner. Elmore surrendered to investigators at the lobby of the Ft Smith Police Department where he was taken into custody. After giving a statement to investigators, Elmore was transported to the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center where he was booked on the theft charge.

 

“Again video surveillance has proved its worth in the investigation process”, said Lt James Flynn. “Although this case could have been solved, the surveillance footage allowed us to quickly target a suspect and make an arrest.”
